But if a new leak is to be believed, Nokia could be looking to launch a new smartphone as well. We're getting a glimpse of the device in question, known as the Nokia C1, revealing a very simplistic design, but nothing much apart from that. From the looks of it, this seems to be an internal presentation meant only for Nokia employees to see as there are not much details available. It is also likely that this is a scrapped project before the Microsoft-Nokia acquisition went through, so take it with a large chunk of salt.
It is said that the smartphone is packing a 5 inch display, 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP camera on the back, an Intel made chipset and Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia's Z Launcher UI. Perhaps Nokia will hand over the reins of manufacturing the smartphone to Foxconn, just like the N1 tablet. But if the smartphone will launch before 2016 is something only for time to tell.
Nokia smartphones have a huge market in countries of Asia and Europe. However, the manufacturer hasn't taken the world by storm with its handful of Android offerings that were launched earlier this year. This was partly due to the fact that it was running a forked version of Android with several features lacking compared to stock Android. But maybe the company can change that with the C1
