WhatsApp Update: Android Users Can Now Format Text In Bold,Italics and Strike through

Android users, it's time to check out another iteration on WhatsApp. The instant messaging service has now rolled out the latest WhatsApp Beta version, which also offers basic text formatting options including bold and italics. The information was revealed in an Android Authority report.

To format the text you just need add an asterisk to the start and end of a word you want to bold, i.e., *
word*. And to italicize, add underscores before and after the word, i.e., _text_.
And to strike through word, add ~ before and after the word, i.e., ~text~

What's more interesting is that now when you will get messages from someone who is using the latest version, their name will appear in bold in the notifications shade too and the formatting of the message will also show up.

Mind you, the feature is only available on the WhatsApp v2.12.535 only for Andriod. Earlier, the Facebook-owned mobile messaging service had introduced it for both Android and iOS users.
